New Horizons: TRS Welcomes Middle School Expansion

As we begin our 9th year, we are proud to announce the opening of the new Middle School Suite after summer renovations were completed to the youth ministry space on our campus at Redeemer Church. The 2,500 square foot renovation benefits both entities as we partner together to strengthen each other’s ministries. Our students, teachers, and staff are already enjoying this beautiful space.

The renovation resulted in two brand-new classrooms, an IT storage and workspace, a common-area between the classrooms, and a middle school office. It is a tremendous upgrade that is making an immediate impact our school community will enjoy for years to come.

I’ve only been teaching with TRS for one month, but it’s been a delight to see the impact our school is making. As a Jackson native having returned after 40 years, I am excited to be part of an educational institution who is serving our families - realizing they are our most valuable resource.

The Middle School Expansion is a real example of the commitment to the mission of the school. With it, we have first-rate classrooms with excellent support equipment to better help with educating our students.
— Mr. Drew Davis, Middle School Science Teacher

Students were able to start fully utilizing the classrooms shortly after the start of the school year, each outfitted with new furnishings and technology. Not only is the hope that middle school students can better embrace some of the updated curricula, but also that they have a sense of ownership and pride in their new space.

Because we are having to work so closely and our rooms are adjacent to one another, it makes it easier to plan and for us to have shared space. Now it feels like an intentional, seamless operation and our students are in a collaborative setting, as opposed to being spread out.

I think moving forward because this current eighth-grade class is the hallmark, they’ll be able to look back on this experience, and then watch the growth. In 10 or 20 years, they will be able to say that they christened this space and were part of the original graduating middle school class. That’s got to feel pretty special going forward, especially for the ones that have been here since kindergarten.
— Mrs. Sheila Gilliam, Middle School ELA Teacher

TRS Faculty & Leadership gathered together with some of our students for a ribbon-cutting kickoff this past week to officially welcome the Middle School Suite. In addition to Redeemer Church, we want to thank our Founding Donor the McKays, the G3 Foundation, Century Construction, Vaughan & Boggan Architects, Pileum Corporation, and all of our supporters who helped bring this vital project to fruition. We are tremendously excited about this new chapter on our campus and pray that it will be an opportunity for us to invest even more into our gifted student body.

Our God is a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God. His love, presence, and care are ours throughout all stages of life. He forms us and knows us in our mother’s wombs (Jeremiah 1:5) and carries us during the gray-haired season of old age (Isaiah 46:4). From the beginning of life to the end, and all in between - He is with us.

Therefore, the Middle School Expansion allows us to grow the Lord’s care for our student image-bearers. We’ve had the privilege of serving them and their families as little children. Now, we get the privilege of continuing to offer them an excellent, Christ-centered education in a nurturing environment during the formative teenage years of their lives. For this, we are deeply grateful.
