TRS Spelling Bee Winners
Last month on December 1st, we were excited to send several of our TRS students to compete at the MAIS District Spelling Bee that was hosted at Jackson Prep. The students who represented TRS had previously competed and won the TRS Spelling Bee here on our campus to be eligible for the District Bee.
We are very proud of the following TRS Students for qualifying for the District Bee:
4th Grade | Casey Austin
5th Grade | Beracha Badmus
6th Grade | Chase Baker
7th Grade | Courtlandt Willingham
In addition to spending time reviewing and preparing for the spelling words, it takes a lot of courage to stand in front of a crowd on a school stage to compete. We applaud and congratulate all of our students who participated both at our School Spelling Bee as well as at the District Spelling Bee.
We want to give a special congratulations to 7th grader Courtlandt Willingham placed 2nd for his grade at the District Bee! Now, we look forward to rooting on Courtlandt as he will attend the MAIS Regional Spelling Bee at Hartfield Academy on January 21, 2022.
TRS Principal Mrs. Lisa Moore attended the District Spelling Bee at Jackson Prep and was extremely proud of each of our students. As a spectator in the crowd, she says watching the students was an awesome experience!
“Your heart is beating fast. It's a rush.” says Mrs. Moore. “Each of our students was passionate & determined. We were all very proud of them!”
Encouraging students to take learning risks through academic competitions like the spelling bees align with our Thriving Index emphasis on Academic Rigor. It “motivates students to put their best foot forward. There is nothing like a little healthy competition in school,” says Mrs. Moore.
It is always so rewarding to see our students compete with their counterparts in the other area independent schools and experience success. Whether it is a spelling bee, chess competition, or cross country meet, we enjoy celebrating the successes of our students for the 21-22 academic year!
