New Faces, New Spaces at TRS

A new school year typically brings about lots of positive change, which is certainly the reality here at TRS. Our new teachers, along with our new students are by far the most exciting additions to our school campus. We proudly welcome Fourth Grade homeroom instructor, Ms. Morgan Barber and Fifth Grade  homeroom instructor, Mr. Glenn Robinson, Jr.

Mr. Robinson was raised in Clinton, MS and teaches Fourth and Fifth grade math and science. He says he has known since grade school that he wanted to be an educator. “My hope for my students is that they reach heights beyond what they could ever think of themselves. I want my students to realize that God has a plan for them and that they can do anything with God on their side. I want to show my students that they can do anything, especially Mathematics and they will not have to struggle anymore with Mathematics.”

Our new Fourth and Fifth grade English Language Arts and History teacher is Ms. Barber. She says she feels called to serve and glorify God in this position. When it comes to her students, Ms. Barber says, “yes, they are a gift from the Lord given to their parents, but I will come alongside the ones who are raising them and helping them “instruct them in the way in which they should go” all for His glory. I did not choose to teach at the Redeemer’s School, but felt called to serve and glorify God in this way both as a covenant member of Redeemer Church and a disciple of Christ living out His will for my life.”

Associate Head of School & Chief Advancement Officer, Mr. Lane Beasley says, “while they [Ms. Barber and Mr. Robinson] have only been with us a matter of weeks, these two faculty members are already demonstrating both academic rigor & ministry mindedness in their interactions with our students.”

In addition to our new educators, Mrs. Shirlene Phillips, our longest serving TRS teacher, who taught K4 at TRS beginning in 2014, is now serving in a different capacity, as the 1st grade teacher assistant. And Mrs. Newcomb who served as one of our Virtual Educators last year has come into the Second Grade classroom to serve as a Teacher Assistant for Mrs. Henry.

The positive changes don’t stop there. As I shared in the previous blog, by the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness, TRS continues to grow our programs. During several of the past years, TRS has made renovations to classrooms in the building to help accommodate school growth. No surprise … the renovations have continued! Our 7th graders are now in the newly updated, Redeemer Church choir room.  Mr. Beasley says, “it was determined the optimal solution for the school's continued growth would be to renovate the choir room into an educational classroom. This included the work of an architect, carpenters, painters, and technology workers to coordinate the renovation as well as the flexibility of other church ministries to allow this transformation to occur.”

All glory to God for the many great things happening and on the horizon for The Redeemer’s School, including our new Lions Athletic Program! We look forward to sharing details in an upcoming blog.
