TRS Educator Joins Forces with the Mississippi Children’s Museum in an Exciting New Role!

The Mississippi Children’s Museum is teaming up with area educators in an amazing new way. Our very own Mrs. Leah Nance, middle school science teacher here at TRS, along with other education professionals, has been selected by The Mississippi Children’s Museum as an official Community Stakeholder. In this exciting new role, Mrs. Nance will help shape the way the museum serves Mississippi’s K-12 children through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

Mrs. Nance, one of 24 committee members from various education backgrounds, is the only classroom teacher represented. “I’m very excited to be working with this group,” Mrs. Nance notes. “I feel that the 4th through 8th grade population is underserved and I’m excited to serve in this way!”  As part of the museum’s advisory committee, Mrs. Nance will have opportunities to share ideas and insights as they strive to develop a new STEM gallery at the museum.

As a community stakeholder, Mrs. Nance will work alongside other local professionals from Jackson State University, Hinds Community College, UMMC, and additional area institutions. This collaboration is another step in fulfilling the school’s mission to provide an excellent and diverse Christian education, reflecting the power of the Gospel in every opportunity. It also reinforces the TRS Thriving Index Service and Community Engagement Pillar while giving our students a faculty example of the importance of service to others beyond school. We are grateful for Mrs. Nance’s dedication and the chance to let Christ’s light shine through her in this endeavor.
