Competition Fosters Success at The Redeemer’s School
Our school Reading Fair is more than just an academic event; it’s a vibrant celebration of literacy, creativity, and the power of storytelling. Every year, students from first grade to eighth grade get an opportunity to showcase their love for books and literature, transforming the school into a hub of imagination and learning. The Reading Fair nurtures students' comprehension skills, enhances their critical thinking abilities, and fosters a lifelong appreciation for literature. It also promotes public speaking skills, as students are tasked with presenting their projects to classmates and even judges at the district level!
One of the most magical aspects of the Reading Fair is the way it brings stories to life. Walking through the Fair is like stepping into a literary wonderland, with vibrant displays of creativity. Members of our school community act as judges for our school-level Fair and work to calculate the scores that determine which Reading Fair boards will move on to represent TRS at the District Fair. Mrs. Raya Abrisambra, a friend of TRS, has participated as a judge in several fairs over the years. “I love seeing all of the boards and how the students interpret the books,” she says. “I recognize many books that I also love such as ‘The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe’ but one of my favorites was the book about Ghandi. Very inspiring and true,” Mrs. Abrisambra went on to say.
Sixteen TRS students earned the opportunity to represent the school at the District Fair, which will be held at Hartfield Academy on February 26th. There, our amazing students will compete with other schools in our district for a chance to showcase their work at the Overall Fair to be held at the Clyde Muse Center later this Spring.
