A Joyful Back to School Season

As we gradually slip into autumn (despite the Mississippi heat), anticipation and excitement fill the air with the joy of a new school year! Our halls are echoing again with laughter, and the classrooms are abuzz with activity as we welcome 138 students back to campus for the 2023 fall semester.

At TRS, we are committed to providing a Christ-centered education that nurtures young minds, bodies, and souls, driven by God's word, like the ones found in Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it." With this verse in our hearts, we are eager to shepherd our young learners and cultivate an environment that fosters spiritual, academic, and personal growth.

Head of School, Mr. Menogan, shared his heartfelt excitement about the new school year, saying, "Our teachers and staff worked hard over the summer to make sure we were fully prepared for a smooth first day back. As we greeted students, it was amazing to see how many of them grew over the summer and how excited they were. My main goal for this year is to have a great, safe, and enjoyable year of academic achievement and engaging activities, and continuing the growth in our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

"A new school year always fills me with a mix of anticipation and joy,” Dean of Academics, Mrs. Moore, said. “I can't wait to journey alongside our amazing students as they explore new horizons, conquer challenges, and grow in their faith.”

We had two great events lined up to kick off the Back to School season. On Friday, August 4th, we invited TRS families to campus to drop off school supplies, meet their teachers, and visit their classrooms. This exclusive event gave parents and students the chance to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones, and time to ask questions before the first day of school on Monday, August 7th.

On August 24th, we will be hosting Back to School Night, an evening dedicated to connecting with students’ teachers, exploring their classrooms, and the opportunity to hear from School Leadership about what we are focused on this year. This opportunity will allow parents to get to know the educators guiding their child's academic and spiritual journey this year, as well as ask any questions.

As we embrace new beginnings, we urge our TRS community to come together and pray over the path ahead. Let us remember the words of Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Welcome back, Lions!
