As we kick off the 2024-2025 school year, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the new members of the TRS team, as well as a few existing team members who have taken on a new role with us:

Brandi Benjamin has held many roles with us over the years, but is now the School Office Manager! She says, "I believe it was God who sent me to TRS in 2018 as a parent searching for an intimate learning environment for my two daughters." She started working with us in 2019, and has been a floater, an assistant, Stem and Computer teacher, and the Librarian. She says her favorite thing about working here is, "our small family community that is filled with encouraging teammates. Although I am no longer in the classroom, just watching our students succeed was and is the greatest motivator for me."

Renee Henry, 2nd Grade Teacher, has moved to Upper Elementary Science and Social Studies! Mrs. Henry, who returned to TRS in 2020 amid pandemic uncertainty, says that her favorite part of teaching is, “encouraging them when things get tough and watching them mature into the person God has created them to be. I have a background in Music and Art so I think I bring a creative piece to my science and social studies classes that is unique and fun.”

Kelly Jones, our new Intervention Teacher, says she got into teaching by letting God make the plan. "I took the University of Southern Mississippi catalog and said, 'when I open it, wherever it lands that's what I’ll major in'." This leap of faith led to a BS in Education of the Deaf, and a 26 year career in teaching Special Education.

Rene’ Menogan, our new K4 Assistant Teacher, was born in Denver but spent her summers and high school years in New Orleans. She is a retired nurse and has 8 grandchildren! She says her favorite thing about teaching K4 is, “They dance, jump or just yell out loud when we do something new and fun. Seeing the world through their eyes is truly a gift from our Lord and I am grateful.” We are so happy to have her as part of our family at TRS!

Markeshia March, our new K5 Teacher, is starting her 14th year of teaching, and says she, "became a teacher because I knew that I wanted a career that would make a difference in some kind of way." She also feels that each day she has the pleasure of working with children, is a day that she has the potential to make a lasting impression.

Leah Nance is not a new face at TRS, but she does hold a new role with us! She has made the move from teaching upper elementary to middle school science. She has been with us since 2022, and says that she was incredibly excited to find a school so aligned with her own educational philosophy when moving from Houston, TX. She adds that as a science teacher, "TRS allows me to provide high quality science instruction and instill biblical values without having to tiptoe around tough conversations about faith when they come up." She is grateful that the size of the student body allows her to spend time with her students one on one, and says that her favorite part of teaching is, "seeing students have breakthrough "aha" moments when they've been wrestling with a difficult topic."

Tarri Tripp, our new K5 Assistant Teacher, has over 20 years experience working with children in various roles and says she, "always had a true passion for children and aiding in their development of life as they learn and grow, which is one of my favorite things about teaching younger children."

Tameka White, our new 2nd Grade Teacher, is a Jackson native who realized she wanted to pursue teaching after helping her cousins with their homework while in college. She says that her favorite part of teaching is, "watching my students grow academically, emotionally, and now spiritually."

We are so glad that your individual journeys have led each of you to us! We’re excited to see how God will guide you this year and in the years ahead. We look forward to spending the school year growing with each of you, and we can't wait to see what plans He has in store for you here. Welcome to the TRS Family!
