SERVICE | Community Engagement at TRS

During this season of giving, we are reminded of the importance of showing love and God’s grace to those in our Jackson community who are less fortunate. Not confined to the holidays, our students, faculty, and staff work throughout the year to seek out and respond to opportunities to fill needs. Earlier this year, TRS hosted a highly successful canned food drive, collecting and raising funds for nearly 2,000 canned goods items.

We believe that the Bible is the lens that God has provided to us to be able to interpret the world around us and inform how we engage in it. In Mark 12, we see an exchange between Jesus and one of the teachers of the law. The teacher of the law posed this question to Jesus, “What is the greatest commandment?”

Jesus responds: “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind and with all of your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” — Mark 12:30-31

We believe it’s important to recognize student’s hard work, and the drive was celebrated with an ice cream and pizza party. We are proud to have a school filled with Kingdom leaders who, even at a young age, are stepping out boldly in their faith to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ through loving and caring for their neighbors. TRS is equally humbled by the support and encouragement of family and friends who have stepped up to help our students accomplish their giving goals; our reach of service wouldn’t be possible without you.
