It’s hard to believe that we will soon be wrapping up the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. These natural rhythms of the school calendar allow our leadership opportunities to track the academic progress of our students. As we review the information we provided in our 2023 Fall Impact Report, we are still marveling at the amazing academic progress of our Lions!

Our vision statement is to raise native, transformative leaders in our community who are equipped with rigorous, diverse, gospel-centered education (emphasis added). Additionally, our definition of success as a school comes from Mark 12:30-31 which says, “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind and with all of your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (emphasis added)

As part of our Mind | Academic Rigor Thriving Index Pillar, we are continually evaluating and refining the academic journey of our students. Our School Leadership established the Academic Rigor Committee composed of faculty, staff, and administrators who are specifically tasked to do just that. This committee evaluates and presents recommendations to optimize the overall academic rigor of the entire school. Our committee members include Mrs. Lisa Moore (Chair), Ms. April Tate, Mrs. Amanda Cook, Ms. Mieyetta Malone, Mrs. Avious Metcalf, Mrs. Brandi Benjamin, Ms. Shaquilla Washington, and Mrs. Leah Nance.

This committee tracks the academic progress of our students through several data points including:

STAR Testing: Fall, Winter, and Spring tests for all students

Stanford Achievement Tests: Spring test for 3rd, 5th, and 7th grade students

Pre-ACT Test: Spring test for 8th-grade students
