Fall Activities at TRS

The Fall is a busy time for us at The Redeemer’s School! With many programs for enrichment, community involvement, and cultural awareness, we fit a lot of excitement into five short school months.

For the entire month our students and staff are participating in a Canned Food Drive in partnership with Redeemer Church, PCA, gathering over 1,000 canned goods to support Hopeful Community Outreach, a local Christian pantry. Our students—from the youngest to the oldest—actively participated alongside faculty and staff, demonstrating their heart for service. We’re dedicated to instilling this spirit of service in our students, as reflected in our Thriving Index pillar of Service | Community Engagement.

Our K4-5th grade students enjoyed a performance of “Winnie The Pooh” by Kinetic Etchings on October 9th, and our 5th - 8th grade students were part of an interactive dance performance by the Behlaven Dance Department on October 17th. These opportunities highlighted the importance of movement and dance in education as well as expression.

On October 22nd, our 1st and 2nd grade students got to go on a field trip to The Mississippi Children’s Museum, which was a fun and educational outing that highlighted Mississippi industry, geography, and history.

Our Cross Country Team had meets in Magee and at the Choctaw Trails on October 22nd and 28th respectively. We are so excited to see our students train and excel in sports as well as in their studies.

Red Ribbon Week took place October 28th - 31st. This National campaign is an alcohol, tobacco, smoking, and other drug and violence prevention awareness week that includes fun activities, themed days, and informative speakers, among other things. This is a great way to bring awareness to our students about the risks and dangers present in the world and help them discover ways to avoid or combat those issues as they grow older.

On Monday, October 28th, our K4 and K5 students got to enjoy a field trip to Cypress Point for a wilderness safari!

Teach or Treat, a school favorite, will take place on October 31st! Our students participate in a school-wide trick or treat experience where they visit each classroom’s doorway and receive candy from the teachers!

First Grade won a pizza party for their submission to our school-wide pumpkin decorating contest: Pumpkin Pals! Their pumpkin was inspired by the book Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse.

At our Scholastic Book Fair, which took place November 4th-8th, nearly $4,000 worth of books were sold in a week! Of that amount, approximately $2,000 will go toward purchasing new books for our school library.

On Friday, November 8th, Jordyn Walker, Jason Knauss, Treasure Emeakpor, Jonathan Mosby, and Chase Rucker took home top prizes at our School Spelling Bee. These talented students will represent us next month at the MAIS District Spelling Bee! Many thanks to our judges, Ms. Shunda Ghnaim, Mr. Dino Taylor, Mrs. Felecia Marshall, and our moderator, Pastor Elbert McGowan.

On Wednesday, November 13th K4 - 2nd Grade students were excited to participate in an Ollie Otter Booster Seat and Seat Belt Safety Program! This interactive student program travels to schools, both virtually and in person, to provide free presentations to elementary age students about buckling up, sitting in a booster seat, and encouraging the adults in their lives to stay safe on roadways.
