Welcoming New Faces & New Roles

Every school year brings new opportunities for growth, learning, and fresh beginnings. As we make headway into the 23-24 school year, we are thrilled to introduce a group of outstanding new team members that the Lord has brought to serve alongside our dedicated returning staff. These individuals embody our school's mission and values and bring a wealth of knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm to our TRS community.

TRS Welcomes 6 Remarkable New Team Members

Hanna Caldwell
Upper Elementary ELA Teacher

“Being a part of a Christian school is a dream come true. Being that it was what I was around growing up, I know the value and the need for education to be Christ-centered. Praying before every class is a must. Talking to God all the time, whether when we are anxious about a test, or struggling with our faith. Teaching and helping the students understand that it is okay to go to God whenever we need Him.”

Jamal Perkins
Upper Elementary Math Teacher

“This year my goal is to teach and exceed expectations. I desire my students to learn they’re limitless in all their hopes, not only in their academic abilities. I hope to become a teacher who can create in every student an unconquerable attitude toward mathematics. Previously, I was hesitant to lean on God in the classroom, but TRS's values have created a comfortable teaching environment unnatural to my past experience.”

Shaquilla Washington
K5 Teacher

“My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” This verse means a lot to me because even when I doubt myself or my abilities, the Lord always steps in to show me otherwise. It gives me assurance that when I follow His lead, I am able to give my students just what they need. I have faith that through Him, my students will reach the levels they need to continue growing.”

Corrie Keplinger
K5 Teacher Assistant

“TRS often reminds me of the exhortation in Jeremiah 29:7, to seek the city's welfare for the people's welfare. I deeply value the opportunity we have to show our students how to be leaders and good neighbors in the city of Jackson, and that begins even with our youngest kindergarten friends learning how to care for and be good neighbors to their classmates.”

Toshino Barber
K4 Teacher Assistant

“My main goal this year is for my students to be prepared for Kindergarten and to have a foundational understanding of the bible.  The values of TRS are essential for the students to understand that all things are possible with God.  Each lesson has a simple understanding and teaches the students the characteristics of Christ and how to be followers of God.”

Mieyetta Malone
Academic Interventionist

“As the Interventionist, my main teaching goal this year is to empower and encourage my students as I support, undergird, and strengthen the academic skills they are challenged in by working one-on-one or in a small group setting.”

Familiar Faces in New Roles

While we celebrate these new faces, we are also proud to announce some of our returning Team Members who are serving in new roles this year.

April Tate
Middle School ELA Teacher

“What most excites me about my new role as the Middle School ELA teacher is having the opportunity to build positive and meaningful connections with a new group of students and teammates. I hope that I can provide students with a safe learning environment to freely collaborate and master new and exciting skills with their classmates. I pray God uses me to inspire students by showing them who they were, who they are, and the many possibilities of who they can be in the future.”

Building Strong Connections Through Team Building

In preparation for the upcoming school year, we recently had an afternoon of team building and camaraderie at High Ball Lanes in Fondren. Amidst spirited rounds of bowling, raffle prizes, and great food, our team members had the opportunity to strengthen their bonds and forge new friendships. It was a wonderful occasion to get to know one another beyond the classroom and lay the foundation for a harmonious and collaborative school year ahead.

As we look forward to the rest of the 23-24 school year, we are reminded of our immense privilege to shape young minds, foster growth, and create a nurturing educational environment. With the infusion of fresh talent and the dedication of our returning team members, we are confident that this year will be nothing short of exceptional.

Welcome to our new team members and our returning staff in new roles – thank you for your unwavering commitment to our school's mission!
