As we near the end of our 9th year of operation, we would like to take this opportunity to look back on our Fine Arts Programs for the 23-24 school year. This year, we highlight three occasions that are important to our faith and community: Christmas, Black History Month, and Easter. In order to provide an opportunity for our students to shine, we separate the grades into three cohorts who prepare for their production. Lower Elementary students performed our Christmas program in December, Upper Elementary students performed an Easter Cantata in March, and our Middle School students performed a singing and recitation performance for Black History Month.
Christmas Program
Our Fine Arts Programs are an excellent opportunity for our students to experience the effects of good teamwork, citizenship, and faith, as well as allow them to discover and grow new skills and abilities. “Many students who don't believe they can play music or sing in front of an audience at the beginning of the year, surprise themselves and their parents in the program,“ notes Ms. Boxill, TRS Music Teacher. The execution of our three programs is her responsibility, but she is quick to say the quality of our programs would be impossible without the support of the Specials Team: Ms. Newcomb, Mr. Eastman, Ms. Howell, and others.
Black History Month Program
“We want our students to understand that hard work and perseverance are necessary to accomplish anything worthwhile. We also want them to gain a level of experience and comfort speaking and performing in front of a large group of people. That experience is invaluable as they grow and do more things,” Head of School, Kelle Menogan, points out. Ms. Boxill adds, “the most rewarding part of doing the programs is seeing students grow in leadership and find their voice, and see their hard work pay off in a program that they and their parents are proud of. I have seen kids grow in confidence and skill.”
Easter Program
We are so grateful to our students and faculty for their dedication and enthusiasm for each program; either as performers or as members of the audience. “The students and teachers work so hard to make each one happen and without fail they exceed my expectations - and I think maybe their own. They are amazing and I am always so proud of them,” Mr. Menogan says. “The Lord has blessed each of our students with so many gifts and talents that the sky is the limit for each of them and it will be exciting to see how He will use each of them in His kingdom.”
We look forward to seeing our students continue to shine in their roles and performances in the 2024-2025 school year, and wish those graduating good luck and ‘break a leg!’
